Knoxville Museum of Art at 1050 World's Fair Park Drive Sep 18th, 2009 The Knoxville Museum of Art announces the fall series of Alive After Five and the beginning of the 17th year of this popular live music program. Premiering September 18 with a performance by the Stacy Mitchhart Band, the fall series will have ten Friday evening shows running consecutively through November 27, except for October 2. All shows begin at 5:30 pm. Alive After Five presents a variety of quality musical entertainment from local, regional, national and sometimes international performers. This year’s fall series will feature performers from Nashville, Lexington, KY, Todd, NC, Columbus, OH, and Kennesaw, GA, as well as the East Tennessee area. Known as “The Blues Doctor”, Stacy Mitchhart is a native of Cincinnati who has long been associated with Nashville. He and his band were the house band for many years at the Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar in Printer’s Alley before moving over to B. B. King’s Blues Club when it opened in Nashville. Always “dressed to the nines”, with a smooth and provocative delivery, Mitchhart is reminiscent of legendary R & B performers. He continues to tour nationally and internationally and has released ten albums. In 2003, he won the Albert King Award for Most Promising Guitarist at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. This performance by the Stacy Mitchhart Band at Alive After Five is made possible by a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission. In conjunction with this performance at the Knoxville Museum of Art, Stacy Mitchhart will also present a music workshop at The Joy of Music School on Euclid Avenue on Wednesday, September 16 at 5:00 pm. The workshop is free and open to the public. For more information, call 865-525-6806.
