of those rare recordings where the artist has his
own distinct voice yet is able to play so many
different styles: blues, funk, horn driven soul and
touches of rock. Then throw in two
deep, soulful covers of classic "rock" songs,
"Black Dog/Whole Lotta Love" and "Whipping Post"
and you have a truly fine recording. Mitchhart's
original material is equally good and one can hear
the varied influences of Stevie Wonder, B.B. King,
and Delbert McClinton in his music. I really like his
voice and the song arrangements as well. Definitely
